← All workLambda Biologics
A brand identity for an organoid biotech, grown from one continuous movement and published as the online guideline its teams build from.
Lambda Biologics grows patient-derived organoids for drug discovery. The identity is built from one idea: the lambda waveform, a single continuous movement from one state to another, drawn as a symbol and repeated into every pattern, grid and detail the brand uses.
The guidelines are where it lives day to day, so they are presented here as they were designed - an online guideline with a page for each foundation. Use the sidebar to move through it.

Typography
Two typefaces carry our voice. Cal Sans gives headlines confidence and presence; Onest keeps scientific content clear, calm and readable — from a 72 pt hero to a 9 pt footnote.

Our typefaces
Cal Sans is an open-source geometric sans-serif tuned for display: bold forms, circular construction, tight proportions. Onest is a grotesque that blends geometric and humanistic forms, with nine weights and open counters built for dense information.

Everyday usage
Onest Regular and Medium are the defaults for typesetting — protocols, reports, product pages and interfaces. Cal Sans appears only where hierarchy needs it. Typesetting here is rigorous and detail-oriented; clarity always comes before expression.

- Pre-warm basal medium to 37 °C.
- Thaw the cryovial for 90 s in a 37 °C water bath until a small ice crystal remains.
- Transfer cells to 10 mL basal medium and centrifuge at 200 × g for 5 min.
- Resuspend in 50 µL matrix per well and seed into a pre-warmed 24-well plate.

Expressive usage
For campaigns, events and hero moments, Cal Sans becomes a graphic object in its own right. Leading and tracking can be interpreted more loosely — as long as type stays in conversation with imagery and space. Aspects to play with:
• Scale • Cropping • Layering with imagery
• Contrast • Color • Repetition

Typesetting
A few universal settings keep our type consistent and legible everywhere.
| Style | Typeface | Leading | Tracking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Headline | Cal Sans Regular | 95–100% | −1% |
| Subheading | Cal Sans Regular | 110% | 0 |
| Body | Onest Regular / Light | 150% | 0 |
| Caption & label | Onest Medium | 140% | +1% |
| Eyebrow | Geist Regular, all caps | 120% | +6% |
Leading
Large headlines use lower values (95–100%); body text uses higher values (150%). Raise headline leading only to stop ascenders and descenders touching.
Tracking
Tighten Cal Sans slightly at large sizes. Open tracking at small sizes and for all-caps eyebrows to keep them legible.
Hierarchy
Aim for high contrast between levels. The bigger the jump between sizes, the clearer the reading order.
Hierarchy
A single type scale serves web, slides and print. Sizes shown for desktop web.

Incorrect usage
Protect legibility and consistency.
Organoids are three-dimensional cell cultures that replicate key features of human tissue, enabling more predictive studies.
Don’t set body text in Cal Sans
Its tight forms tire the eye in long text.
Organoid insight
Don’t use other typefaces
No substitutes for Onest or Cal Sans in brand materials.
Insight
Don’t track headlines wide
Cal Sans is built tight; loose tracking breaks its rhythm.
Insight
Don’t stretch or skew type
Never distort letterforms.
Low contrast
Don’t use low-contrast text
Vital Green text on white fails WCAG.

Yet another level
Don’t crowd the hierarchy
Too many sizes and weights blur the reading order.
