Project 05Branding
← All workLambda Biologics
A brand identity for an organoid biotech, grown from one continuous movement and published as the online guideline its teams build from.
Lambda Biologics grows patient-derived organoids for drug discovery. The identity is built from one idea: the lambda waveform, a single continuous movement from one state to another, drawn as a symbol and repeated into every pattern, grid and detail the brand uses.
The guidelines are where it lives day to day, so they are presented here as they were designed - an online guideline with a page for each foundation. Use the sidebar to move through it.

Voice
& Tone
Our voice is how Lambda Biologics sounds in every protocol, paper, post and conversation. It carries the same standards as our science: precision, integrity, collaboration and continuous learning.
Voice is our personality — it never changes. Tone is our attitude — it adapts to the moment and the reader.
Confident,
not overstated.
Progressive,
not superficial.
Precise,
never cold.
Human,
still scientific.
Our voice
Four principles make sure that whoever is writing, and wherever we appear, we sound like Lambda Biologics.
- 01
Confident, not overstated
We state what our data shows and stop there. Claims are specific and supported; we let results carry the weight instead of adjectives.
Tactic — Say “reduced screening time by 40%”, not “revolutionary speed”.
- 02
Progressive, not superficial
We are excited about what organoids make possible, and we explain why it matters — the mechanism, the model, the outcome.
Tactic — Lead with the scientific reason, then the benefit.
- 03
Precise, never cold
We use exact terms, units and numbers, and we write them so a busy scientist understands them first time.
Tactic — Define acronyms on first use: patient-derived organoids (PDOs).
- 04
Human, still scientific
Behind every model is a patient and a research team. We write to people, with warmth and respect, without losing rigour.
Tactic — Use “we” and “you”. Thank collaborators by name.
We should be…
A quick check before anything goes out.
We should be
- Clear
- Specific
- Evidence-led
- Confident
- Collaborative
- Warm
We shouldn’t be
- Vague
- Hyped
- Jargon-heavy
- Arrogant
- Distant
- Clinical in a cold way
Tone by context
The voice stays the same; the tone shifts with the reader and the moment.
| Context | Tone | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Protocols, CoA & papers | Formal, exact, neutral | Centrifuge at 200 × g for 5 min at room temperature. |
| Product & website | Clear, benefit-led | Ready-to-use colorectal PDOs, validated across 12 donors. |
| Social & events | Warm, energetic, inviting | Meet the team at booth 612 — bring your toughest screening question. |
| Customer support | Patient, practical, reassuring | Thanks for the detail. Here’s how to recover viability after thawing. |
Writing tactics
Habits that make our writing easier to read and harder to misunderstand.
Lead with the finding
Put the result or the action first; context follows.
One idea per sentence
Short sentences survive translation and skim-reading.
Numbers and units
Use SI units with a space: 37 °C, 50 µL, 200 × g. Use numerals for all measurements.
Define acronyms once
Spell out on first use — patient-derived organoids (PDOs) — then use the short form.
Prefer active voice
“We validated the model” rather than “the model was validated”.
Cut the hype
Remove “revolutionary”, “game-changing”, “cutting-edge”. Show the evidence instead.
Word list
Some words build trust; others quietly erode it.
| Say | Avoid |
|---|---|
| patient-derived organoids (PDOs) | mini-organs, tumors in a dish |
| clinically relevant | game-changing, revolutionary |
| our data show | proves, guarantees |
| predictive | 100% accurate |
| partner, collaborator | client, customer (in scientific contexts) |
BEFORE
Our revolutionary, cutting-edge organoid platform guarantees game-changing results for every oncology program.
AFTER
Our colorectal PDO panel predicted patient response in 8 of 10 retrospective cases — so oncology teams can prioritise candidates earlier.
Example data in the rewrite is illustrative.
